HP Exec pleads guilty

For someone who learned about integrity and openness from Hewlett Packard, these kind of news pains one. But IMO, these are not the odd ones out there, but these are the unfortunate ones who were not smart enough to evade the net or did not have a godfather within the company. It is also not very difficult to check these things before hiring - they would have caused havoc elsewhere also unless the situation did them in, which in my opinion is rare. It is very difficult to hide the lack of integrity in a senior manager IMO.

I was a victim of a visa scam where HP sponsored J-visas(for cultural exchange!) for contractors from India to work! Finally, the VP responsible for the group who indulged in it got fired, but it sure was bad name for HP. And from my experience working at HP, I know for sure there are people who doesn't care a lot about integrity if their career aspirations to be met. The place where I worked was not the typical HP, it was a very poor reflection of a great company. It does get corrected once in a while, but the damage these people at higher level can cause the company is really humongous. Even if these guys are fired, people who groomed or hired won't be very different either.
